Meet Evie. Evie is 15 years old and started a paid work placement with us at SoulPad today. Here Evie reports on her experience at Latitude Festival over the week-end; -
"The day starts with a car crammed with pillows, snacks and excitement. We were en route to Latitude with a strong lineup and British weather ahead (which to no one’s surprise was a refreshing drizzle and overcast skies.) I was beside myself with joy, despite the pins and needles in my left foot.
We oozed out of the car and prepared for the trek to find a perfect pitch. Now, professional festival-goers like ourselves insist that one trip from car to camp with our luggage is the only way to do it. And so we did; sleeping bags balanced on arms decorated with numerous bags, we trudged onwards.
Once we had finally pitched our tents and found one of SoulPad’s own, Mark, who’d gotten lost in the sea of tents, we were ready to hit the festival.
Latitude has always been one of my favourite get-aways: it isn’t too far away, has a wonderful line-up and is always so beautiful, and for me it is that exactly.
You look around and it is like a curry; mixed spices, exotic flavours, and a fiery, passionate tang. We are an eclectic mix of people, from all backgrounds, with a kick, one that is here to make a difference.
The highlight of my day, with the vegetarian sushi I had for lunch making a close second, was being immersed in Two Door Cinema Club’s set. They blessed us with their older songs and I felt so free and happy to the core. Like I expected, they were even better live, and to quote exactly how it all made me feel with one of their songs, it would have to be: “If this is the life, then who’d argue?”
Some honourable mentions music wise, would have to be Declan Mckenna, Milky Chance, Glass Animals, and Leon Bridges.
At the end of the night, stuffed with crepes and milkshake, it was time to retire to our SoulPads. It was my first time camping in one, and I can honestly say that we pitched a tent this weekend, but packed away a home, a memory, an experience of a lifetime.
