Wayne Hall of 6 Months in Scotland Charity Wild Camp (in Aid of 'Shelter') gives his review of the SoulPad 4000-ease™ he's been using for the past 2.5 months.
"The Tent.
It's time I sang the praises of what's fast become home over the last 10 weeks.
For 58 of the last 70 nights this 4m SoulPad Ease bell tent has sheltered Jerry & I from hideous weather of every description. It's stored our gear, offered an environment to dry our gear & has really become home from home.
I'm disappointed when not in here, Jerry is too....the little 2 man tent is way too cramped but light, bothy cottages can be busy places & the van is an absolute last resort despite being quite comfy.
The beatings that the SoulPad has taken......70mph+ gales on several occasions....sometimes days of driving rain.....even sheet ice & snow at Glen Affric. A single skin cotton tent doesn't have the right to be still looking so good after intense weather abuse & never did a single drop of rain made it through. Even after it's been soaked for days it dries out fast in the breeze.
The down sides are few & one no fault of the tents at all.
It's a big space inside & therefore more difficult to heat than a small tent.
It weighs just over 20kgs.....no good for back packing! Easy in the canoe. Other than that it's tough, strong, spacious & a nice space to be in.
Thank you SoulPad"
